A small village burns in a wintry grove. Creatures of all shapes and sizes run in fear of the flames. At the centre of this chaos, a humble-looking snowman attempts to calm the hysterical crowd, but to no avail. Amongst them, cruel Yule Rascals laugh and make fun of their plight. The snowman spins his head around, a full 360 degrees that, admittedly, you find a little disturbing ... "Hey! You have a weapon! Please! Save us! We can’t take it anymore! We want to be free!"

"Have you managed to scare away those mean Yule Rascals?" While the snowman’s smile is eternal, he hums happily at your approach. "Thank you, good stranger. For years those terrible Yule Rascals have made a mess of our village right before Xmas, and today was no different ..." The snowman turns his gaze towards the crumbling village. The once delightful thatched roofs have all but burned away, leaving behind scorched timber frames. The villagers walk languidly around the destruction as if all of them had collectively given up at that moment. "Things are not good. That is why … I want to leave this place." The snowman manages to wiggle one of his stick arms. You hear the soft, chiming sound of a bell. "Before my papa melted away, he told me the bell around my wooden wrist is magical. He said if I rang the bell at each of the Winterbell Glyphs, I’d gain wings …" the snowman says quietly before looking at the sky, "wings … can you imagine? I could fly away from this place! I could leave! I could … escape Yule Baron Potter and make a name for myself out there! But …" The snowman looks back at the village. "... I can't just leave the rest of us behind, right? Even though I want to leave the nest, I want to change Winterbell for the better!" The snowman says as he wiggles his arm once more. "You look strong, can you help me? My festive form forbids me from partaking in potentially violent encounters, though I wonder if that's more to do with the fact I cannot bend my elbows … but ah! Just, let me know ok?"

"Have you decided to help us, good stranger?" "Oh thank you! It means so much to me - to all of us - that you are willing to lend a helping hand against that evil Yule Baron Potter! He's nothing but villainous! He's grumpy, tyrannical, and downright rude! He hates anything that glitters or glimmers, even more if it shines and shimmers! He always sends his awful Yule Daemons to stamp on all our fun!" The snowman twirls gleefully and begins sliding towards the exit of the village. "Two of the glyphs can be found here in Winterbell Ways. The last is within Yule Baron Potter's estate and is heavily guarded. We must make haste before he learns of your presence! Quickly, to the first Glyph!"

Stage 4 Minimum Level: 4900 Location:Forest of Yule (Winterbell Ways) (4, 4) Required Item: None Required Kills: None

The low hum of the stone glyph is evidence of the magic within, though you are unsure just how powerful it may be. The Snowman slides towards it with the bell still dangling from his unbendable arm. "This is it. This is the first glyph." With a characteristic turn of his head, the Snowman scans the wintry trees. "Strange. I don't see any Yule Rascals here. You might have scared them off from the whole realm!" The snowman giggles. "Well, are we ready?" "Alright! Here goes!" With an arduous groan, the Snowman manages to shake his arm for the bell to ring. Suddenly, the glyph begins to light up. A blue light carves itself on the surface of the stone, depicting an angelic wing. "Oh my Gods! It's working! I can’t believe it's working!" The snowman's arms both wiggle excitedly as you watch him lift off the ground. While it is not enough to fly, at least it will be easier to get around … "It's happening! I just need to ring the next two glyphs and then … no, we must hurry! We don't have time for chit-chat! To the next glyph!" Accompany the Snowman to the next glyph.

Lonely in the absence of life, the second glyph hums quietly in a much-too-quiet neck of the woods. "Oh my … this place gives me the heebie-jeebies." The Snowman shivers, as if snow can shiver at all. While the stone glyph matches the one you saw previously, it appears far more worn and neglected. There is crude graffiti written all over it. "Reeks of Yule Rascal mischief. They don't have respect for anything. Yule Baron Potter just lets them do whatever they want …" Then, as if on cue, a harsh voice rings out from the surrounding woodland. "Heh! You're right! We can do whaaaateeeverrrrr we want and you cannae stop us!" The Snowman gasps and hovers behind you. "It's the Yule Rascals! They're here! Please, you gotta beat them up!" Defeat the Yule Rascals before they interrupt the Snowman's bell-ringing!

Stage 6 Minimum Level: 4900 Location:Forest of Yule (Winterbell Ways) (19, 16) Required Item: None Required Kills: 100 x Yule Rascal

"Are they gone?" The Snowman sighs in relief. "Gosh, that was scary! I hate it when those Yule Rascals pop out of nowhere! Wherever you find them, something always goes wrong!" The Snowman shakes his head as he approaches the second glyph. With a pained groan, he shakes his arm and, the bell rings. Like before, the glyph lights up. The symbol of an angelic wing appears on the vandalized surface. "Ooowahh! Look at me! Look at me!" The Snowman lifts even higher from the ground as small teeny-tiny angelic wings sprout from his back. "We're almost there, good stranger! Just one more glyph to go!" The Snowman directs himself back down to earth. With a giggle, he wiggles his arms and wings at you. "The final glyph is on Yule Baron Potter's estate. I've seen how you beat up those Yule Rascals, might you beat up him too? All we want to do is spread the festive cheer, but he won't even let us smile. Yes, it's illegal to smile in Winterbell Wood! With him gone, the denizens of this forest can finally live in peace and I …" The Snowman looks at the sky. His black beady eyes absorb the beauty of the heavens. "I can be what I was born to be. An angel that can fly over the Forests of Yule and spread happiness and festive cheer! Where smiling is the norm!" You watch in awe as the Snowman proclaims his noble mission. "Let's go, good stranger! There is a stairway to Yule Baron's Estate in the north!"

You arrive at Yule Baron's Estate and are immediately taken aback by the state of the stone glyph. While the structure itself appears stable, a visible force field blocks your way. It exudes arcane energy, with forks of purple lightning shooting across the barrier. Whoever cast the spell is powerful indeed … "Oh no! How are we meant to get to the glyph!" The Snowman cries, wiggling his little arms. A growling voice resounds. It booms and bothers and beckons. "Hehehe, you're not meant to get to it, that's why! Do you think I'd be so foolish to let you waltz in here after I hear about you beating up my loyal subjects!?" "That’s Yule Baron Potter! He knew we were coming!" The Snowman fidgets and edges closer to you. "He's hiding somewhere in this wood!" The voice erupts into maniacal laughter. It echoes throughout the wintry grove, shaking snow off drooping trees. "Give it up! There's no way I'm letting you leave Winterbell! Now be a good boy and hand over that bell of yours!" The Snowman gives you a pleading look. Twirling gleefully, the Snowman waggles his woody arms at the sky. "You hear that, Yule Baron Potter!? We're not gonna listen to you! You're just a poopy head! My friend here will beat you up!" Defeat Yule Baron Potter and save Winterbell Wood!

"Is it done? Did you beat up Yule Baron Potter?" The barrier surrounding the final glyph begins to fade, dissipating entirely with a pop and a crackle. With haste, the Snowman rushes towards the stone. "This is it! This is the last one!" The Snowman takes a deep breath and, with all the effort he can muster, shakes his wooden arm for the final time. The bell resounds, the chime echoing longer than normal, and you watch as the Snowman's form begins to glow. Ribbons of joyful light surge and swell around his gleaming form. You watch as large angelic wings spread from the light, as a long dress of sparkling tinsel tumbles down onto the snow. With shoes of gold and poinsettia wreath bracelets, the beauty of this creature is immeasurable. Golden hair cascades from the angel's crown, bouncing atop gentle shoulders peppered with festive frost. "Oh my, is this me!?" The angel looks at his hands, his kindly face banishing all sense of dread. "I'm not a snowman anymore? The curse is ... broken?" The angel looks to you. His eyes brimming with love and festive cheer. "It's all thanks to you, good stranger. Not only did you free Winterbell from the foul Yule Baron Potter, but you also broke the curse that has grounded me for eons!" The angel twirls higher into the sky, each beat of his wings sending soothing shockwaves of light throughout the realm. "From this point onward, I will protect the denizens of Winterbell. With that poopy head baron gone, we can enjoy the festivities all we want! Please, take this as a token of my appreciation. May all your days be full of love and laughter!"
