The air of Longspur Creek is strange indeed— an odd assortment of different smells fills the air. From baked goods to roasted meats, your stomach grumbles at the prospect that a festive meal is close. Then, shivering with his head in his hands, you find a young man muttering under his breath in a nearby snowy ditch.
"Gods no! You stupid idiot! Why did you think that was even a remotely good idea!? You've really screwed it all up now!" |
Startled by your presence, the man leaps from the ditch and clings tightly to a tree.
"Who … Who're you!? W-Wait you're real right? Not some … hyperrealistic gingerbread person, aye?"
You assure the man that you are not a hyper-realistic gingerbread person.
"Thank Gods. I can't take another surprise. I feel like my heart is about to pop at any moment." The man climbs down from the tree and dusts down his overalls.
"Look, I screwed up real bad. Right now the town is getting swarmed by … sprouts. Yes, sprouts. I don't know if that weapon you got there is just part of some fancy costume, but if you can fight, please help me sort out this mess!"

Standing alongside the young man, you take in what looks like a massive food fight taking place in the town center. Houses are splattered with mint and cranberry sauce. Steaming rivers of custard and gravy flow through the winding streets. The worst, however, are the swarms of sprouts barrelling through and knocking the townspeople to the ground. |
"I told you. Sprouts." The man sighs, pulling out a rolling pin. "L-Look, we have to do something, right? Let's just bonk these guys and I’ll tell you everything! I promise!"

"Is that the last of them!?" |
However, before either of you can catch your breath, an angry woman stomps over to the young man.
"It's all your fault!" The woman cries as she wipes the remnants of a cake off her face. "Our sleepy town is now a total mess! How are you going to–"
Before the woman can finish her lecture, the sky grumbles loudly above. The woman nervously steps back.
"Not again!" The woman screams, rushing into a nearby building. You watch the townspeople follow suit as large globules of chocolate fall from the sky.
"[Username], I know this is all very weird and crazy, but my name is Erii McWoody. I’m the wizard that messed everything up!" McWoody grabs your arm as a large splattering of chocolate narrowly misses you both. "I created a magical machine that can convert snow into festive food. I thought with all the snow around we could enjoy a yuletide celebration filled with endless food and cheer …"
"But something went wrong … " McWoody says sadly, letting go of your arm. "Not only did the machine take over my house, but it started messing with the weather too! Now, all that falls from the sky is food! You have to help me!"
With McWoody's sincere desperation and the absolute mess of the town, you nod and offer the young wizard your aid.
"T-Thank you! Then we must make haste to my house! I'll explain when we get there. Come, let us hurry!"

The Frosty Hill is littered with festive foodstuffs. Sprouts bathe in hot baths of gravy and roast turkeys walk around as if they own the place. |
"The food gaining sentience wasn't intentional …" McWoody says, scanning the horizon. "There! Look!"
Wobbling over a hill caked in all sorts of food, a gingerbread house struggles to maintain its balance. Visible magic rises from its chimney into the sky.
"That's my home. The machine I made is inside and - as you can probably tell - it's turned my house into an edible nightmare." McWoody looks at you; his eyes pleading. "Please. Put it out of its misery. Destroy my house and the machine within it!"

"Did you do it? Did you destroy my house?" |
Relieved, McWoody slumps to the ground. While the thought of losing his home is certainly distressing, it is quelled by the relief that no more mischief-making food will fall from the sky, which is of course immediately destroyed by the footfalls of something much-too-large …
"What … is that?" McWoody shivers. "It sounds like it's coming from the town!"

You rush back to the town and, to your horror, see a colossal roast turkey loom over Longspur Creek. |
"What in the billion hells is that!?" McWoody shouts. The townspeople are rightfully afraid of this roasted mass of vengeful meat. They scurry about, slipping and sliding on the rivers of custard, gravy, and Gurgriss knows what else. It is time you stopped this madness. Your brain can't take it anymore!

McWoody is once again muttering in a ditch to deal with his problems … |
"Ah! Y-Yes, it's gone!" McWoody springs to his feet. "I should … probably get out of here before the townspeople–"
A sudden cheer erupts from the town center. All around you, people rush out from their chocolate-covered homes to behold the lifeless remains of The Roast Beast.
"Look at the size of this bird!" A man shouts. "There's enough here to feed us for the entire winter and more!"
The unexpected jubilance of the townspeople seems to ease McWoody's nerves.
"Hah, well I suppose it didn’t end too badly." McWoody smiles, offering you a handshake. "I’ve got a lot of explaining to do, and no doubt I'll be sat in front of the Town Mayor for a while, but thank you for helping me right my wrongs."
