Having destroyed the shadow Necromancer Gatto and parted ways with your Witch Hunter friend, you move on. The graveyards have led out into a swamp. Out of the corner of your eye, you see movement. |
As you turn towards the movement, a walking corpse lurches at you through the swampy water. |

As you lop the head from the first Bog Body, you see many more lurching from the darkness. |
You destroy the last of the bog ridden Undead. You hope this is the last, lingering revenant raised by Gatto but decide you cannot in good faith leave without properly investigating the Swamps. You must proceed and find out if any further threats lie in wait! |

You trudge through the bog, feeling the oppressive atmosphere dragging at you. Suddenly you spy a naked flame seems to burn from the swampy ground. |
You carefully investigate the flame. What could be causing a flame to burn on the water? |

You investigate the flame and find that it appears to be burning some kind of natural liquid. It seems similar to oil. |
You soak a spare traveling cloak and place it over the flame, extinguishing it. You then pull out a few empty waterskins and siphon off some of the flamable liquid. In these swamps, it could be useful.
You receive 'Fuel Filled Waterskin'. |

As you rise, a swarm of Gargantuan Zendell Leechs rear out of the water around you. It appears fire keeps them away while also attracting them. Now they see you, not the flames. |
You chop the last of the Leechs down and grab your flint and tinder. You carefully re-light the fuel that bubbles from the water. It was a safe spot from the monstrous Leechs. You light a branch from a tree dipped into the fire to create a make shift torch and continue through the swamp. |

You find a huge, dark and rather menacing Keep in the swamp.With all the troubles with the Shadow Lords minions in the surrounding area, this cannot be a good sign. |
You walk through the gate and are confronted by Troll that is standing guard (though slouching is a bit more accurate.) |

The troll spies you and shambles over. 'Is youz 'ere to report to da Corup....Crup....da Boss?' You look at the Troll and say 'Yeah. I gotta report to the Boss. Where is he?' The trolls brow furrows as he processes what you've said. ''E's in da middle of da Keep. Youz should know dat!' In a smooth motion, you pull out your weapon and take the trolls head off. Unfortunately, your action is seen. Fight off the approaching trolls! |
You strike down the last of the foul beasts and sheath your weapon. You better see if there is anything else in the Keep as you look for 'Da Boss.' |

Stage 8 Minimum Level: 1197

You have been fighting through the Keep for a while and decide to search the Dungeon. You might find some information there. Why do the humans have green, glowing eyes? You turn a corner and nearly walk into a Jailer. He cries out a warning before you can silence him. You hear a group of stomping feet approaching. |
You stay the killing blow on the final Jailer confronting you and force him to tell you what's going on here and who is in command. The Jailer stares back at you with fevered eyes. They glow a bright, sickly green. 'Lord Acerbuss shall stop you. He will turn you to our cause and that of our Master. He's cast his control over the region and you CANNOT STOP HIM!'
You calmly tell him that Acerbuss' control has been broken over the other regions and thank him for letting you know who is behind all troubles before putting him out of his misery. The fanatacism of the Jailer worries you. You have a feeling that it won't be easy to get to Acerbuss. |

You battle deeper into the Keep. You are confronted by Swordsmen. You shall have to fight through them! |
You finally manage to bring down the last of this group of Swordsmen. You are about to step forward when you are confronted by a small group of more formidable looking Swordsmen. |

Though much more capable than their troops, the Swordsmasters fall to you as well. You get the feeling they were guarding their master. Acerbuss must be close! |

Acerbuss is stood, obviously waiting for you. You draw near and ready your weapon. Acerbuss raises a hand in a placatory manner and says in a gentle voice 'You won't need that. Let's talk, you and I.' |
You are startled to find you can't draw your weapon. This man is dangerous! His words seem to have massive power. You realize this and try to marshall your willpower.
Acerbuss smiles. 'Excellent. I thought you might be willing to listen. The Shadow Lord has told me you are to be destroyed as you have long been a thorn in his side. He dislikes nuisances such as you! However, think of what he could do with a Warrior like you! Think of the power he would bestow on you and more importantly, me, for turning you to his service!'
You struggle against Acerbuss' word and he sees this quite plainly. 'Oh well. I suppose I shall simply destroy you then. A waste.' |

Acerbuss is readying a fireball. You still cannot fight of the compulsion against using your weapon! What can you do?!? |
In a flash of desperation, you throw the waterskin you filled in the swamp at Acerbuss just as he's about to loose the Fireball. It hits the waterskin and the fuel explodes all over Acerbuss, coating him in sticking fire. His concentration broken by agony, you whip out your weapon and mercifully finish him off.
Once the fire burns out, you investigate the remains and retrieve an Amulet. Acerbuss is dead, his corrupting influence is gone. The Shadow Lord will have been stymied in this area and you imagine he will not be pleased!
You receive 'Corrupting Amulet of Acerbuss' and 12,949,203 Xp. |
