You hear raised voices drifting through the snow laden trees. The words of the Hunter echo in your mind and you do not approach the two pale Elven warriors you see are arguing. You then knotice an old Gnarled Tree nearby... |
You crouch behind the aged tree and peer round it and listen to the two Elves, 'I'm telling you that the fool should not be here. Why does a soft city boy need a whole heap of Wolf Pelts! We shall take him back to Jordo City and see if he knows anything else...' You see the other Elf make an angry reply but you don't listen, they must be talking about the Hunter you met. If it is, they are holding him somewhere in the Realm. Find and free him.' |

I can stay here for a bit until you have retrieved the Pelts. The Guards will assume that the Cage is locked.' He is about to sit back down when he suddenly stops. 'Oh, just one more thing, I want you to kill 60 of those arrogant fools whilst your at it.'

The pale Elf stands slowly and opens the Cage Door and takes the Pelts from you with a crooked smile. 'It is fitting that you should slaughter those self righteous idiots. They call me traitor but it is them who is ruining the name of our once proud Nation. But that is for another time. For now I need to get these Pelts back to Jordo City, I think you could be very useful to our cause. I can't tell you about it here, but if you could meet me in Jordo City (Streets) we can speak more.' |

You walk the Streets of Jordo City with apprehension as there is an odd taint of pervasive fear in the air. After a while you are relieved to find the familiar face of the Hunter. |
He motions for you to stop and then pretends that he does not know you, all the while staring up at the sky. It is then you see the odd looks you are drawing and suddenly realize that you are the only non-elf in the entire Street. You instinctively draw your weapon and start looking for a way out when the Hunter grabs your arm.
'Warrior, I see you have grasped your true situation within our City. There was a time when all were welcomed here. But now the people have little regard for the King and listen instead to the General of our small domain. He has used this to his own advantage, and basically rules Fydjordo from the shadows as the so called protector of the Kingdom. The King is now reduced to a symbolic figurehead even though he is more than capable of ruling Fydjordo. But he feels that with the people following General Ydmar, he cannot regain control of our country without considerable bloodshed.'
'But there is a growing resistance within our people who see Ydmar as the arrogant self righteous tyrant he is. I am a part of that group and I hope you will join us in trying to rid Fydjordo of Ydmar. The thing is Jordo City is watched during the hours of daylight by the Ice Hawks. They are supposed to scan the City for warmblooded intruders, but we have seen them take note of our own people and quickly fly away. The next day those people have disappeared. We need to know where they fly to, but their roost is a tightly kept secret. Can you see if you can find a clue where their roost is?'
Without warning the Pale Elf then walks away, you don't have to even look up as you see on the floor beside you a silhouette of a hawk that is hovering above you... |

The Pale Elf looks as you sideways, 'Do you have a clue to where the Ice Hawks roost is?' |
He takes it from you, 'I don't understand, what can this tell us?' You frown at the Elf and say quietly, 'That is a magical device which I would bet allows someone to look through the eyes of the Ice Hawks. After all how could a bird notice someone behaving suspiciously? It has to be someone using the Birds to spy on you rather than the birds themselves.'
The Elf then laughs, 'But that does not help us as it could be anyone looking through these Runes!' You smile back at him then calmly say, 'Mages and Wizards are not in the habit of giving up their powerful magics. It would be them who use these Runes and report their findings back to whoever is in charge. Why do you think it takes a whole day for someone to disappear?' The Pale Elf looks about uncertain, 'No, you cannot be right. But if you really think all the Mages are involved, they are safe in their Tower. It would be a waste of time to assualt them, though if you cause some problems with the Mages, that would give us some time to make the leather armor with the Blood Pelts for the coming fight.'
Enter the Jordo Mage Tower (Lower Chambers) and see if you can find any proof that the Mages are spying on the City |

You enter the tall Mages Tower and find a young Sorceress reading a book. She mutters to herself as she does so. Something is obviously troubling her... |
She looks up from the book and stares at you in utter disbelief, 'Oh, you're a warmblood! I didn't think you would be allowed within the city walls.' She then looks down at the book in her hands, 'No, I'm not having a good time. I'm supposed to bind a Familiar to my will as one of the first steps for becoming accepted to the Mage Tower. But I can't get the spell to work. It's one of the lessons I'm supposed to learn, to accept something. But I simply cannot get a handle on the essence of the Familiar.' She hands you a scroll, 'This is a copy of the portion of the spell book I'm having problems with. If you help me solve the problem I'll give you a trinket in return.'

The Sorceress is still engrossed in her spell book as you return, 'Did you make any sense of the Scroll I gave you?' |
The Ice Elf takes the Icon and her eyes go wide in horror, 'But... but this is a symbol of a lesser demon! I was told that all the Familiars were crafted from pure magic. No no no, that cannot be right. I must go see one of the Mages to clear up this misunderstanding. But I'd appreciate your being there for moral support. I find the Mages on the top floor a bit strange.'

The Sorceress sighs, 'Yes actually. The Mages refuse to even acknowledge me as I have not bound a Familiar yet. But I saw what looks like a Circle of Power, but they would not let me near that either. But I do know it's something important to them. You should find a way to unlock the Circle and I can see what they are up to. It will serve them right for ignoring me!' |

You find carved into the cold floor a runic spell circle, Nezdorma stands next to it holding the flaming ruby. |
She nods, 'Right, lets see what this Circle does. This Spell Circle has a spell weaved into it, so with the correct Focus you can activate the incantation.' She holds the blazing gemstone over the Circle and stares at it. Her hand glows after a while then after a moment the runes start to pulse with magical energy.
Nezdorma steps back and smiles at you, 'That was easier than I thought it would be. It took hardly any concentration to activate the Circle. It does mean that the Circle has lots of use, I wonder what it does...' As the Elf was speaking the stones inside the Circle began to fade and the a map Jordo City was appears with several red glowing spots moving slowly over the map. Your heart begins to sink...
Nezdorma stares in amazement at the map, 'What is that for?' You point at one of the red spots and say, 'Concentrate on that.' The Sorceress goes silent as she stares at the spot, after a short time the maps falls away and a view of the City Streets comes into view with a frightening clarity. But Nezdorma screams out in shock and the street vanishes and the map returns. The red spots continues to circle over the City.
'I'm sorry, I got a horrible feeling of falling. I just wasn't expecting that.' You nod and step back from the Circle, 'You were not falling but flying, those red dots are in fact Ice Hawks. This Circle is used to spy on the people of Jordo City for General Ydmar.' The young Sorceress looks horrified at the Circle, 'Why would the Mages spy on the people they are supposedly be serving?'
You are not sure how to break it to the young Elf, you then decide that the truth is best and she will have to just deal with it. You say reluctantly, 'You know what the lesson you were supposed to learn from binding your familiar was?' She looks at you blankly, you continue, 'It was a lie that they were magical creations. The Familiars are demons, you had to kill them to discover that and take the knowledge of how to use them from the demons themselves. The lesson is that power is not good nor evil, just a way to gain an advantage over something or someone else.'
Nezdorma looks away from you, 'Is that what it means to be a Mage?' You see the pain on her face, 'No young Elf. It is the mold that they were trying to push you into. I don't think you will do well here. I would suggest that you find another place to learn your craft. The Realms are a big place, I'm sure you could find someone to apprentice you.'
She turns slowly to you, 'I have been taught that the warmbloods are inferior, but I have not found that to be true. I will leave this place, are you going to remove Ydmar from the throne?' You nod slowly, 'Good, then I shall help you. The General is in his Castle. Meet me in the Ydmar Castle (Fortress).' |

'I am glad you're here. There is a reason why General Ydmar rose to become such an influential person within our Kingdom. He is not only clever but also an excellent fighter. Few can match him in single combat, so be careful. But we have come this far and we have little choice other than to see this through to the bitter end. Hunt down and kill Genral Ydmar (Elite).' |

The young Sorceress bites her lower lip, 'That is good, you should go now. I'm not too sure how our people will react to the news that the General is dead. The belief that we are somehow better than the warmblooded races will take some time to outgrow. Although, it is fitting that Ydmar's death came at the hands of one of the very beings he thought weaker than himself. Thank you very much for your help Warrior, may Lindarsil guide your path.'
