The echos of Lindarsil's words reverberate around you're mind as you enter the East Gate of Crestoun. In the center of the East Gate you find the Guard Captain staring at you with his sword drawn. |
The captain rises his sword, 'Stand fast stranger and declare your intentions here in Crestoun.' You can tell by his tone that he isn't joking, if you don't answer correctly this man will cut you down. You say, 'I mean no offense Captain, but what is going on?' The captain eyes you suspiciously, 'I received a report that an enemy of Crestoun was sighted within the Graveyard from the watchtowers on the city walls. But the men I sent never returned, do you know anything about what happened to them?'
Every instinct in you screams to lie. But Lindarsil said to be honest with the Crestoun Guard, after taking a deep breath you tell him, 'Actually I do. In my travels I met a Monk that seemed to be unwell. He said he had been thrown out of Crestoun because the people had not received his teachings due to their stubbornness. He wanted to perform a sacrifice in a shrine near Crestoun on their behalf. I assumed he was a Monk of the Light, I was wrong. I murdered the Guards protecting the Monk until I saw the truth. He was summoning some horror to destroy Crestoun, not offering a sacrifice for them.'
The Captain's face goes pale at you're words, 'He summoned a... a... a horror to destroy Crestoun? We must slay this beast!' You raise you hand stopping him in his tracks, 'Lindarsil appeared to me and told me to deal with the threat. I have done so, she then sent me here to speak to you.' |

The Crestoun Captain gawps at you, 'You have some proof that Lindarsil herself sent you?' |
The Captain looks at the shining Icon in your hand, then says 'We in Crestoun favor Gurgriss more than Lindarsil, why would she care for us?' He then takes the Icon and immediately goes into a trance. You notice that he has stopped breathing or blinking, he just stares out into the unknown. You are just about to get concerned when he seems to snap out of it and gasps for breath.
'Well, Lindarsil is... direct. She told me she has sent you to help me. We can't have that idiot Tantrathull running around Crestoun spreading his madness. If you assist me in slaying him I'll overlook you killing my Guards in the Graveyard. Can you tell me where he went after you dealt with his demon?'
You shrug, 'He ran into the sewers.' The Captain sighs in exasperation, 'Of course he ran into the sewers! Take my advice Warrior, don't go into the sewer lines unless you absolutely have to. They are quite extensive and there is very little down there apart from lots of hungry rats. It's a waste of time simply running about them blindly. If he went into the sewers he have lost him for the moment. Our best option is to search Crestoun for clues to where he is hiding. He has to have a hole he is lurking in. When he told you that nobody listened to his prattle that was not quite true. Far too may listened to him for my liking. Meet me in Crestoun (East Street) and we'll see if Tantrathull's influence is evident in the everyday citizens of the town.' |

He takes the bag from you. In his eyes you see a flash of fear as he opens the bag. 'We have a Dagger, a Shopping List with some Pencils to keep track and a ball of twine to keep the bags together.' He smiles back at you, 'Looks like the people have not given into Tantrathull's idiotic ideas just yet. This is good news my friend. Come, we should let the good people of Crestoun get on with their busy day.'
As he turns to leave you say to the Captain, 'Ummm, I did notice that the Citizens did look very nervous. They kept looking around as if something were after them. The Captain gives you a sideways look, 'I'm pleased you saw that Warrior. I think some evil is afoot, but they have not overcome us just yet. Now let's get on with our job, meet me in the Trader Lane and we shall see what's there.' |

The Guard Captain has ordered you to search the Trader lane for anything odd. Everything looks fine and you're just about to return when you come across a terrified Citizen gibbering to himself in terror. |
The man does not look at you, he simply stands in the small square trying to make sure he does not touch any shadows. He then points at a gloomy corner and screams, 'The dark... eyes in the daaaaark.' The man is clearly out of his mind, you should look around the Trader Lane and see if you can find the thing that sent him bonkers. |

The gibbering man mutters to himself, he stares past you terrified by the shadows all around him. |
The poor soul is utterly convinced that something is staring at him, he just can't find it. You wave the Bag of Shiny Apples in front of him and say, 'Did you buy this recently?' The man ignores you. You then snap your fingers, at the sharp sound the man suddenly focuses on you. You say slowly, 'Did you buy a Bag of Apples like this recently?' You show the bag to him again.
The man is obviously struggling to keep his sanity. He bites his lower lip and concentrates on what you just said, he slowly nods, then snatches the bag from you and looks inside. 'There is a little creature staring up at me from in between the apples.' He throws it away in disgust then hurriedly hands you another bag. 'Fruit ain't so good for you after all!' With that he runs away.
You look into the Bag and in it's unnatural darkness you see nothing but tiny eyes staring back at you. The Captain would probably want to see this.

You return back to the Guard Captain, 'Did you find anything untoward in the Trader Lane?' |
You feel the watchers staring at you, it's as if they are looking right inside your soul seeking out your innermost secrets. You know it's the little 'things' in the paper bag, but even so you are relieved you get rid of them. You tell the Captain that the Crestoun Peddler is selling bags of apples with vile little demons in them. The demons eat the apples and start terrorizing anyone who is holding the bag.
The Captain frowns, 'What would be the point of this? But then I'm not insane. Thank you for showing me this. I'll take care of it. Don't be worried that I'll succumb to the demons influence. All Crestoun Officers have a rune of protection against all demonic spells. You have found some evidence of Thantrathull's work here. We should move onto the next section of Crestoun. Meet me in the Crestoun (High Terrace) let's hope this is all there is.' |

The Captain paces angrily as he waits for you in the High Terrace. |
As you draw near to the Captain you see he is pacing in a rage with his sword drawn. 'Sometimes I can't believe the selfishness of some people. Crestoun is a nice place, but it does have it's problems. One of them is organized crime. There are a few very powerful families that have their fingers in almost everything. We have a crisis of demons threatening the town, but apparently the Vanatchi don't seem to think that needs to interfere with business. They have sent their Thugs to collect their protection money. I want you to confiscate that money, take this recipe and bring me the Crestoun Protection the Thugs have gathered. We shall use the funds to equip the Guard.
