You find Silandra standing in a pleasant Glade of the Sathrin Forest. |
Drawing near to the Elven Monk you slow down when you notice that she paces to and fro seething in rage. She sees you and points deeper into the wooded Glade, 'I found a large Purple Crystal south of here. When I took a closer look at it, a vile Sorceress attacked me with arcane bolts. I managed to lose her in the trees but I think she is something to do with the evil that is blighting the Forest. The wizened crone is not that adept, so I would guess she is just an Apprentice. Competent or not we must put a stop to whatever dark spell she is weaving.'
'I would guess that she has crafted the Purple Crystal for whatever foul scheme she is trying to accomplish. If she made Crystal then she did so with the Spell Orb she is carrying. That will be the key to the Crystal's destruction. Take the Spell Orb from the Consumed Apprentice and use it to shatter the Purple Crystal, return to me when the task is done.' |

You find a large Purple Crystal pulsing gently with evil energies. |
Silandra guessed that the Consumed Apprentice crafted the Purple Crystal. On a hunch she told you to take a Spell Orb from one of the haggard witches and use it to destroy the Crystal. Now that you stand before the Purple Crystal, you see why Silandra was so concerned about it. Even you can feel the dark energies flowing through it.
Taking the Spell Orb from the Consumed Apprentice was not an easy task. They put up quite a fight, you just hope that the Elven Monk had guessed right. Staring at the Orb in your hand, you realize that you're not too sure what to do. You hold the Spell Orb next to the Purple Crystal, but nothing happens other than the Orb shimmers a bit.
You look around for some help and just see the quiet leafy green Glade around you. It's then that you notice a slight gray tint to some of the leafs on the nearby trees. It then occurs to you that this pleasant Glade will soon suffer the same fate as the Soldoril Grove. You look down again at the faintly glowing Spell Orb, when a sudden surge of frustration rises up in your chest. Turning, you throw the useless crystal ball straight at the Purple Crystal. As the Orb strikes the Crystal you flinch as it suddenly explodes into tiny shards.
You stare unbelieving at the ruined crystal in front of you. On an impulse you pick up a small Dark Shard, maybe Silandra will want to examine it.
You receive 1 x Dark Shard.
You should give the Dark Shard to Silandra.

Silandra waits for you restlessly, 'Have you destroyed that foul Purple Crystal?' |
The Elven Monk takes the shining Purple Shard from you. 'You brought me a shard of the Crystal?' For the first time since you entered the Glade she smiles at you, 'Thank you, I'd forgotten to ask you to bring me a sample of the Crystal.' She holds the Shard in both hands and closes her eyes.
You hear the crystal Shard give of a low hum, then jump back on a reflex as Silandra cries out suddenly and drops the Shard as if it's red hot. It shatters as it hits the Forest floor. Tears streams down the flawless elven features of the Monk. 'The Forest... inside the shard I felt the Forest... This means that the Crystal is storing up the very life energies of Sathrin Forest, like a bucket holds water. Why would someone do such a thing?'
The Elven Monk stares at you vacantly. Silandra has never been exposed to such foulness in her life, her mind was struggling to even accept such possibilities could even exist.
Gently, you take her hand and say. 'Your Forest is being drained of life. Your people and culture will die with the Forest if we don't stop them.' The Monk looks around at the Glade which surrounds you, 'Sathrin will perish just like the Soldoril Grove. Everyone, our entire Village will wither along with it. What hope do we have?'
You take out a dagger from your belt and put it in her hand and say, 'We hunt those who are doing this and cut them down.' At your words Silandra's eyes narrow, 'Evil gives rise to more evil. That's how the world works. How can the spilling of blood solve anything?' You had forgotten that Silandra was a Monk, the scholar in her was fighting to come to terms with the sudden cruelty to her reality. Gently you say to her, 'In normal Village life you are correct. You don't slit someone's throat for kicking your cat. This is not a normal day, and you are no longer in the Village. For Evil to flourish, it just takes Good to do nothing. If we do nothing, your people will die. The destruction of your entire way of life is worth fighting against!'
The Elven Monk stares at you, she tilts her head to one side. 'Am I using traditions to hide from harm? Am I a coward, I am very scared, am I a coward?' You smile as say quietly to the Monk, 'If I go, will you go with me?' At you words Silandra grips the dagger, 'Yes, of course I would.' You step aside saying, 'The you are no coward. The fear you feel simply means you're sane my friend. Now, where do we look for the Evil Mage who is draining Sathrin Forest of life?'
Silandra bites her lip, 'Our enemy sent these Apprentices here, maybe our enemy likes glades. We should look in the Woodland Glade, it's fairly nearby.'
