You enter a strange and evil place, Virmalthorn looms in the darkness of the Apex. |
The High Priest of GorGulGol stands tall and sinister in the deathly quiet of the Twisted Citadel. He does not turn to you, he simply states. 'The chances of us finding Jamesina alive now are slim. I just don't know where she has gone. There are existences which are far worse than Death.'
His words echo around you like hollow specters of hope. You lick your lips against the fear and ask if there is any hope for her. You shudder as the High Priest stays silent as the grave...
Your skin crawls as he whispers, 'We must walk this path, and discover it's end no matter how gruesome. I have scryed this Floor, it is small but potent creatures walks it's darkness. There is a door to the far northwest corner. But it is sealed. I would guess it's the way to the Palace. There is a cult who almost worship Lord Xinderoth. The most powerful of their number haunt this place, they protect the way to the Palace. You shall hunt down an kill the Xinderoth Sarabite (Elite) and bring me the Script Of Unsealing that they carry. Go now, grief has turned me uncharitable.' |

Virmalthorn stands silently in the gloom, 'Do you have the Script Of Unsealing?' |
Virmalthorn scans over it, 'This is encoded. I shall have to break it to figure out what ingredients we require to construct the Citadel Sceptre that will unlock the way to the Palace. Meet me at the Statue Of Magic, just beside the door to the Palace.'

Virmalthorn stands silently next to the delicate statue, 'Are you ready to hear our fate? |
Virmalthorn looks over the Script Of Unsealing again, 'I'm sorry, this spell is a work of genius. To construct the Citadel Sceptre which will open the way to the Palace we not only require all four Citadel Shard fragments, but there has to be a specific power source that is not, Xind, Death or Old Ones in nature. None of our magical talents will be of any use in building such a power source, as those are are only schools of magic we have. This means that we are doomed. The Eater Of Time has won. Lord Xinderoth will rise and walk the Realms again and we have lost Jamesina for all eternity...'
You listen to the march of pain in Virmalthorn's voice. It is hopeless...
Then in your minds eye, a picture of an a Demon Prince of the Burning Halls glares down at you in utter contempt.
You smile...
You ask gently, 'High Priest, we need a power source that is neither Xind, Death nor Old Ones in nature?' The High Priest nods.
You take out the Infernal Orb that was gifted to you from the Demon Prince in the Burning Halls of the Infernal Chasm. 'Will this do?'
Virmalthorn looks upon the dark Orb in your hands. In words of utter consternation he whispers, 'Warrior, is that an Infernal Orb. A jealously guarded prize of the upper hells that may be gifted only by the most powerful of demons? One of which you just happen to be carrying about in your backpack!' You shrug, 'Yes.'
The Death Priest looks at you in disbelief, 'That's... fortunate... this Orb is demonic in essence. Being neither Xind, Death or Old Ones in nature, it will power the spell perfectly. There is deep irony here. As if it's been planned...'
'Warrior, take this Citadel Sceptre Recipe and return when you have constructed the Sceptre.'
You receive 1 x Citadel Sceptre Recipe.

Virmalthorn awaits your return with the fathomless patience of death, 'Have you constructed the Citadel Sceptre?' |
The High Priest of GorGulGol takes the Sceptre and looks at it for a moment, 'I wonder what horror this object shall revel to us now...' He whispers.
Without another word Virmalthorn then places the Sceptre into the delicate hands of the Statue Of Magic. There is a loud click as the door behind the Statue clicks open. Virmalthorn strides past the pale figure and throws the door wide, 'Come Warrior, we shall now face Lord Xinderoth in his Palace.'
