You wander the Palace expecting Lord Xinderoth to appear at any time, but you are face with just empty rooms and corridors. Eventually you find Virmalthorn staring at a strange woman dressed in red robes. |
The Death Priest bristles with rage, 'I have searched every room of this foul place and there is no sign of Jamesina. The only thing I found is this weird... thing... before us which appears to be lost a world of her own. It radiates a wrongness which makes my bones ache.' He shoves you in the direction of the strange woman, 'You speak to her..' he whispers.
As you take a step closer to the strange robed figure you can't shake the feeling that you've met before. You take another tentative step and the red cowl snaps up. You look upon the face of a woman, her pale skin shines with delicate scales and your heart sinks as her eyes suddenly glow with an unholy light. She says in her clear haughty voice, 'So Warrior, we meet again. The last time I laid eyes upon you was in a sewer below Crestoun.' She waves a hand, 'See how I have raised in station? My Master the Eater Of Time is kind to those who follow him. Now why are you here, speak truth or I shall see through it!'
Virmalthorn glowers behind you, 'Don't tell her. She reeks of impossibility. She's not to be trusted.' You remember The Seer, lying to her is not an option. Ignoring the whispers and say, 'We seek to slay Lord Xinderoth.' You feel a bony finger prod you in the back, the Death Priest hisses. 'Ask her about Jamesina...' At the name you see the eyes of The Seer flicker slightly, then the unholy light blazes anew. 'I find you a puzzle Mortal, my vision is flawless. You on the other hand are hidden from my sight. I only see your intent. You speak truth, you shall face your destiny. Walk your path Warrior, walk into your oblivion. Step through this portal and die at the hand of Lord Xinderoth (Super Elite).' |

Virmalthorn tries not to look upon The Seer before him, 'Did you manage to slay Lord Xinderoth (Super Elite)?' |
The Seer's eyes flare wide as the river of time takes it's new course. She shakes her head in confusion, 'Warrior, what are you! The Emperor Of Yellow said your past is filled with pain and torment. The Eater Of Time would have a rich harvest to pick whatever horror he wished to slay you with.' She looks around, 'Where is he, he should be here to snatch another memory from you.'
Confused you say, 'I saw his corpse near the entry to the Palace, if that's any help?' The face of The Seer contorts in terror at the truth of your words, 'What have you done?' She whispers in horror. You frown and say petulantly, 'It wasn't me. It was Cavanda who killed him. Why does she keep doing that?'
The Seer of the Old Ones eyes turn to your words. She screams at the shining truth of Cavanda's sacrifice which binds the wrath of Sahria to cut the last vestiges of good fortune from The Emperor Of Yellow. Leaving him to the lethal mercies of misfortune that stops his very heart. She whispers, 'The Old Ones have not completely reshaped creation, chance still riddles this reality which still infects us all. We cannot escape it's grasp. No matter how often the Master reshapes The Emperor, he still is bound to his chance and therefore doomed to die by the sacrifice of Cavanda. He can never again walk the Realms of the Living whilst chance still flows...'
You say haltingly, 'So there is still a chance to end this?'
Relentlessly your words drive The Seer's vision to new possibilities. She whimpers, 'There is a great convergence in the river of destiny. It is your choice that shapes its flow. By the choices you have made and the path you have walked, you are now bound to face my master. Take the simple door to the north and step into the Twisting Dark (Churning Nether) where The Eater Of Time (Titan) waits to devour you.' |

The High Priest of GorGulGol towers of The Seer who looks ar him with mild curiosity,. He whispers to you, 'Is her precious Master thrown back into the eternal misery of Elsewhere?' |
The Seer's eyes flash with a sudden radiance. She screams and collapses to the ground. Virmalthorn steps closer to her, 'So the death of your Master brings an end to your existence. That's unfortunate.' He then gasps as he sees something...
Without warning a razor sharp knife appears in his bony hand. With a practiced dexterity he cuts open The Seer's robes then deftly opens her chest. Horrified you say, 'What are you doing? Stop that!' Virmalthorn whispers, 'Remember that Jamesina was taken by a weird Cult? Well they didn't imprison her, they reshaped her into something more agreeable. Her talents as a Seer were too great not to use. Her spirit stands next to us, she does not have much time before she steps into the Deathlands. Now let me work, I must try to figure out what these fools did to her internal organs... Now... this goes there...'
You look in horror as the Necromancer nonchalantly picks up and replaces vital organs. Your mind reels from the sudden realization that Virmalthorn views the body like a puzzle that he can simply put back together.' He looks up quickly and stares at the wall, 'No, you will STAY!' he says to the air.
He then takes out a worn box from somewhere in his robes, flipping the lid he reveals a grizzly array of strange metal things. He then opens a small draw and to your surprise he takes out a simple needle and thread. You wish you could look away, but you can't. You watch as Virmalthorn quickly stitches the gaping hole back together, then suddenly turns to you.
'Sorry', is the only thing he says as he stabs you in the leg with his sharp knife. You scream in astonishment and pain, disbelieving as he then twists the blade and lets your red blood gush over the floor. Virmalthorn simply says, 'Good, you bleed well.' He turns back to the motionless body and scrawls a series of complex runes on it with your blood. Dropping the knife, he starts to whisper. Your blood freezes and the air turns chill. At his words the body of The Seer suddenly starts to convulse. After a short time Virmalthorn stops his spell casting, he covers the writhing body with the remains of The Seers cloths and steps back.
You stare up at him whilst clutching your still bleeding leg, 'Can you at least warn me before stabbing me next time!' The Death Priest snorts and absently waves his bone hand in your direction. You leg chills for a moment, then the bleeding instantly stops. You stare down at you now healed leg and wipe away the blood. 'Thank you', you mumble.
Virmalthorn ignores you, 'Come on...' he whispers as he stares down at the squirming body. You look up at him, 'What are you doing? Just let her go?' The Death Priest then suddenly looks at you, 'I am not going to allow those idiotic Sharpers drive Jamesina into the Deathlands. She does not deserve that. We don't know what the judgment of the Light will be. Where she will end up!' He looks back at the body that suddenly stops...
Jamesia suddenly sits up and screams, 'My face, it hurts... What have you done you idiot!' Virmalthorn curses under his breath, grabs her hair and slices the skin at the back of her head. He puts a rough stitch there and looks at the face. 'Oh, this is going to hurt.' Remorselessly, he does two small cuts along the jawline and the skin of her face relaxes. Jamesina whimpers in agony and Virmalthorn remorslessly stitches her skin together. He then holds her face in both his bone hands and mutters another spell. You gasp as the cuts vanish and Jamesina stops crying.
Virmalthorn steps back and stares down as Jamesina moves her face about. You kneel next to Jamesina and look into the strange face. Her skin is flawless and delicate scales can be seen picking out her lovely features. 'Are you alright?' you say. Jamesina glares at you, 'Well, I've been opened up, stitched together and my dress ruined. How do you think I feel!' Virmalthorn hisses a laugh, 'She's fine. She didn't die and is now free from the Old Ones. She also has a new body, which is much taller and more interesting than the other one.'
Jamesina holds her ruined robes together with her hands and slowly stands, 'I can't understand you at all. You rearrange my internal organs, stitch together my chest but DON'T mend my robes. MEN!' She then grabs the High Priest of GorGulGol and starts to march him out of the Palace, 'You are going to buy me a new and horribly expensive outfit, and don't tell me you can't afford it. I know you have all the riches of the dead at you disposal!'

In the Deathlands stands a tall tower that has no name. It is wreathed in screaming mists that will suck the life from any mortal who is fool enough to come near. Virmalthorn strides along the obsidian pathway and into the dreaded tower. He walks unhindered past the Doomguards who salute at his passing and into a huge vaulted hall. Waving at the gaggle of Necrolisks which bow at his presence, he turns left and through a crude iron gate and down a wide stone staircase.
The Weapons Master stops hammering the long curved blade of a Deathlord's scythe and looks up in astonishment at the scroll that the High Priest of GorGulGol hands to him. He simply whispers, 'Make it. I shall return.' He turns and stalks out of the Wrathforge.
The hammer of the Weapons Master falls upon the dark anvil, time does not pass here. But the master crafter smiles as he works. Sweat pours from his corded muscles as he whistles tunelessly to the hammer blows. Minor Blood Imps come to see what he makes, they gasp at the strange weapon and run off chittering to each other in consternation as they fly off into the depths of the tower.
Finally the Weapons Master douses the dark weapon and lays it proudly upon his anvil. A passing Deathbringer stares at the masterful weapon. 'What is that?' he grunts, 'It's not a scythe or a barbed whip?' The Weapon Master shrugs, he lifts the blade and lets the red light of the Wrathforge pick out the delicate details of the raven skull with the bright rubies set in its eye sockets. The Black wings that form the handle give a strange grace to the hilt that holds the long straight blade that is laced with ever burning fire.
He replies to the Deathbringer, 'It's the Blade of Virmalthorn. Made exactly to his specifications. I was surprised that he wanted a longsword. But on his scroll he notes at the bottom, 'Longsword to the face, it just works.'
The Deathbringer looks at the the delicate raven wings and the bright rubies set in the skull which set off the and the long dark blade laced in ever burning fire to perfection. 'It's shiny.' He says. The Weapons Master nods in agreement, 'It is, isn't it.' |
