As you enter the town of Gadral, you are confronted by a Gadral Loyalist who demands you declare your intentions. |
The Gadral Loyalist sneers at you. 'We have enough troubles with rebels trying to stir up dissent. We don't need strangers coming in causing more. If you stay in our town, be sure you don't cause trouble!' With that, the Loyalist spins on his heal and storms off.
You watch the man leave, mind a whirl with reasons for this kind of greeting. Looking around the town, you see an awful lot of guards. More than is required for a place this size. You also notice the populace look defeated and beaten down. You decide to look around and see if you can get to the bottom of whatever is going on in this town. |

Yoou continue to wander through the town, noting how unhappy the general populous is and the sheer number of guards and Gadral Loyalists are around. The Loyalists job seems to be to march around town shouting at people and extolling the virtues of some "Gadral Lord Protector". It's not long before you find yourself being beckoned into an alleyway by a hooded towns person, who is watching out for Loyalists. |
The fellow beckons you and hisses to get into the alley. 'Don't let the Loyalists see us talking. They'll kill us both!' |

You step into the alley, accutely aware that you don't know this person but figuring that if he's not with the Loyalists, he could be a useful source of information. |
The fellow retreats further into the alley. 'I saw the Loyalist chew you out at the gate. He and all like him are helping the town's Lord Protector keep this town in an iron grip. The people suffer while the Lord Protector's underlings live like kings.' |

At the informant's words, you nod and say 'I had a feeling something like that may be happening. Tell me, is there a way I can help?' The informant nods. 'If you are up for it, our group does have a plan which is to destabilize the Lord Protector's rule. Initially, this is through killing his men and weakening his power structure. Would you defeat 30 Gadral Loyalists?' You agree and head out into the town. You tell the informant you'll be back shortly. |
You find the informant skulking in the alley. He looks up fearfully as your form blocks light for the entrance but relaxes when he sees it is you. 'You managed to kill some of the Loyalists?' You nod. 'Aye. All thirty, as you requested. This should have weakened this "Lord Protectors hold on this part of the town. Where next?' The informant looks at you agog. 'Really? All thirty? Well, in that case, meet me in the Merchant District.' |

You meet the informant in the Merchant District. He's tucked away into another alley. 'Who are we targeting here?' you ask. The informant turns to you. In this district of the town, the Gadral Guard are bullying and stealing whatever they want from the merchants. This is apparently them protecting the populous while also collecting taxes from the "grateful" victims. I'd like you to slaughter 50 of these honorless, thieving curs.' You offer a curt nod and stride into the Merchant District. You'll be back soon enough! |
You stride back into the alleyway and see the informant. 'They are dead. They shall not bother the Merchants any further. What next?' The informant smiles. 'We've been blessed with your coming my friend. We may be able to help this poor town at last! Please, let's head to the suburbs next.' |

You have wandering into the suburbs of the town and are looking for the meeting point when you hear the informant yelling out. You burst into a run and turn a corner to see a man with a knife raised standing over the informant. |
You lunge into the alley, tackling the assailant. You roll together and struggle to get the knife away from yourself. Suddenly, the Saboteur goes rigid with a grunt before relaxing. You see that the knife has found it's mark in his flesh. He's dead. You get up and turn to help the informant up. |

You help the informant to his feet. 'What was that all about?' you ask. The informant looks around, obviously scared. 'That was a Gadral Saboteur! Oh Gods! They've sent Saboteurs after me. I've obviously brought the Lord Protectors attention upon me by bringing you into this fight.'
You shift your weight and look up. 'You could well be right.' you say. The informant looks up. His shoulders slump as he lets's out a gentle 'Oh.' Along the roofs surrounding the alley, there are Saboteurs. Without a word between them, they drop into the alley. |
You leap into action, defending the informant and cutting down any and all Saboteurs that try to get too close to the informant. They press you but while they are obviously more than the average citizen can handle, the Saboteurs simply fold against you. They probably haven't faced Dark Gods or evil Sea Hags though, so it's not surprising. You help the informant up and ask what's next.
'Well, the Lord Protector is obviously on to us. That means your attacks must be having an effect. We need to move ahead with the attacks. I know that the Lord Protector has hired a tribe of Berserkers and has them set in the Guardhouse. We should head there and thin their numbers out a bit.' |

You have moved into the Guardhouse section of town as swiftly as you can. However, you are not surprised to hear a thin wail from a nearby alley mouth. |
The informant is backed into the alley by a group of burly Barbarians. You ready yourself for a fight and step into the alley. 'We have a problem here gentlemen?' |

The barbarian group turns to look at you. As one, they start roaring with laughter.'What can we do for you? We're all Warriors. We have not the time to play with you tiny.' As the leader moves to turn away, you lay your weapon against his arm. 'You intend to kill my associate there?' The barbarian swings around with a roar, only to find you are not where he thought you were. He promptly falls down, dead. The other barbarians see you stood with your weapon bloodied. As one, they attack! |
While the barbarians a good individual fighters, they are not a unit and as such, you take them out in short order, using their numbers against them, tripping them & pushing them into each others weapons. Soon, the alley is quiet again. You help the informant and clean your weapon.
'You must have REALLY annoyed the Lord Protector by getting me involved!' you quip. The informant agree with you. 'Yes. I was able to get a little more information from these barbarians. They were only to happy to tell me what they were going to do when they brought me before the Lord Protector. They also pointed out that the Lord Protectors new Barbtooth Riders will have to be sent after you specifically. They are in the Inner City, waiting for you. |

A small group of Gadral Barbtooth Riders prowl around a square. Their fearsome cats are making people in the area a little nervous. You watch the Barbtooth riders a little longer before turning to the informant. 'These are the last troops that the Lord Protector has?' The informant nods. 'Yes. While most are out here, there are a few guarding the Lord within the Palace. You'll need to kill those that patrol here first. It's probable that they could well have a key or letter to get into the palace that we could use.' You nod and stride off to engage the Barbteeth. |
You return to the informant. 'The Riders in the area are dead. I found this note of admittance on one of the Riders.' The informant takes the note and gives it a quick read. 'This looks perfect. Using this, you ought to be able to access the Palace itself!' You take the note back and smile grimly. 'Time to pay the Lord Protector a visit I think.' |

You enter the Palance with a crash, throwing barbarians across the room as you wade through them. None are able to slow you down and in due time, you find yourself standing before the Lord Protector, who sits imperiously upon his throne, glaring down at you.
'Who are you and how did you get into my palace?' asks the Lord Protector. |
You toss the Note of Admission at the Lord Protector, who deftly snatches it out of the air. 'So, you are the whelp that's been causing trouble in my domain? You've caused me plenty of trouble, yet now you come before me to die?' |

You stand before the hulking Lord Protector. He slowly stands and prepares for battle. 'You've come before me to die? I do hope you last longer than the last trouble maker I had to make an example of!' He shrugs his shoulders out, looking light on his feet. In an instant, he's lunging at you, blade streaking towards your throat! |
You bring your own weapon to bear, turning the blow with combined parry and dodge. As you slip past each other, you hook your hand into the Lord Protectors armour, then you use your vast strength to give him a shove, throwing him off balance. He turns it into a dive and rolls up onto his feet again, blade held at guard. 'Hmm, slippery aren't you? This might be fun after all!'.
Serpent swift, the Lord Protector is at you again, but you are faster. For long minutes, the two of you are embroiled in a fearsome, fast paced fray! There is no doubting the Lord Protector's skill but your own abilities put you far ahead of the this 'Lord's' abilities. Just as he is readying another gust of bravado for you, you get inside his defense and take his head off.
You return to the informant and present the Lord Protectors head. 'It's over. The Lord Protector is dead. Ensure that whomever takes over is worthy. If I pass through here again and see the same kind of behaviour from your people, I'll not be happy.' The Informant nods. 'No fear on that score. We'll keep everything in order!' You nod and leave the town to continue your journey's.
