You've finally made it away from the coast and have been walking through these dark and forbidding plains for a while. As you wander, you notice a Hunter in the distance. You turn in their direction. The Hunter looks up from what she is apparently stalking. She puts a finger to her lips and beckons you forward. You creep forward quietly. The Hunter turns to you as you get close. 'Quiet!' she hisses at you. 'The Realm is crawling with Lokat Shadow Tigers. These unfortunates where living beings, killed and twisted into undead, ghostly predators.' You nod. You've faced creatures like this before and inform the Hunter of this. Her eyes widen a little. 'Have you now? In that case, I'm sure you would mind helping me put these poor souls out of their misery?' Again, you nod. 'Unfortunately, that means destroying them but at least their souls will be free to fly to GorGalGul to be returned to the fabric of creation.' you say, before muttering 'Where's Virmalthorn when I need him?' The Hunter flinches. 'You invoke the name of the Death God so casually!' You look at her. 'Yes. I do not fear him. He is a necessary part of life and creation. I learnt as much from an old friend, a High Priest of the Death God. It's not to be feared.' With that, you head into the plains to free the wretched souls trapped below.

After hunting down all the Shadow Tigers and freeing them from their torment, you meet the Hunter again. 'You get them all?' she asks. She exhales. 'Good. We need to find the source of this corruption. It reeks of the Shroud.' You nod. 'I concur. This was no chance occurrence. We should head deeper into the plains. I can feel the source of this infection.' The Hunter looks at you. 'Feel? That does not fill me with confidence Warrior. How do I know you're not in league with this force?' You turn back to her. 'You are not dead. The Shadow Tigers are. Have you heard of the old troubles in Karthak? Xinderoth City? The destruction of Lishka?' The Hunter blanches. 'That was you?' You fix her with a piercing stare. 'Aye. I've sworn to take the fight to the Shadow Lord and his kind. And I've suffered for it but He does not have his foothold yet. I shall NOT allow it to occur here!' With that, you stalk off towards the horizon.

You find this section of the plains haunted by Lokat Shroud Bats. These undead abominations SEETH with Shroud energies. And you can tell the source of the affliction is close. Just as you start trying to pinpoint the locus of the energy, the Hunter arrives. She assesses you. 'You do not look happy Warrior.' You shake your head. 'The area is infested with Shroud Bats. They appear to be cloaking the exact source of this affliction. We'll need to destroy them. Meet back here shortly. If you see the creature responsible, do not engage. The Shadow Lord's minions are lethal.' The Hunter agrees to your plan.

Stage 4 Minimum Level: 2700 Location:Lokat Plain (Haunt) (3, 17) Required Item: None Required Kills: 100 x Lokat Shroud Bat

You return from the cull and find the Hunter waiting for you. 'I saw her!' she blurts before you can ask if she's okay. The composes herself. 'Yes, her. I was wiping out the last of the bats when this insubstantial woman appeared and started casting magic ait me. She was as vapourous as the bats and instead of a face....' You finish 'A glowing orange eye?' The Hunter frowns. 'Orange? No, it was green.' Now it's your turn to frown. 'Green? I've not heard of minions of the Shadow Lord with a green eye. Maybe it's because she is a she? Or because she is a caster? In any event, you escaped. Where was this sighting?' The Hunter marks it on your map. You scan it. Directly East.

You return to the Hunter. She scans you, noting the magic burns and asks 'Are you okay?' You shift and make yourself comfortable on the hard ground. 'I've fought a lot of magic users over the years. Even those of the Shadow Lord. But this is the first of his cyclopean military caste I have ever seen wield magic. And her eye was green, like the energies she used.' The Hunter says 'Used? Past tense. You destroyed her?' You nod. 'Yes. She'll plague us no more but I confess, this new development concerns me somewhat.
