You've been traveling through these wasted lands somewhat confused. You'd been told by passing travellers that you were about to reach Pellranor Forest. But this couldn't be the place. Sure, there are tree stumps and weird mulch everywhere you look but this place is a plain of such things, with no healthy trees in sight. The ground is dry, dusty and parched. Nothing could live here long. As if to punctuate this thought, you hear a monstrous, unearthly keening sound. |
You step over a ridge and see a Dryad. Unfortunately for you, the Dryad sees you too! She melts into a nearby tree stump and disappears from sight! |

Required Kills: 1 x Pellranor Dryad

You stand ready, waiting for the Dryad to show herself. You don't have to wait long! Howling like a demented banshee, the Dryads form flows out of a nearby stump. Leaping at you, she is surprised when you swing around and catch her bodily upon your shield. Using your prodigious strength, you slam the shield (and the dryad) against a nearby boulder you'd edged towards. You have noticed that this Dryad is fighting mad, but also appears to be drying out. She's quite sluggish but is fighting back against you.
You act upon instinct and drop your weapon, struggling to keep the Dryad pinned. She claws at your shield, pulling herself up. She frees and arm and as she swings it back to launch a fresh attack, the water you spray at her from your waterskin hits her full in the face and before your eyes, sinks into the plant-like flesh suddenly stilling the Dryad. You lower her to the ground and pull your shield away. Making sure she can see your hands are filled with waterskins, you release her completely. |
The Dryad is seemingly unsure about the offered waterskins. You open one and drink a bit, showing her it's safe. She takes them and pours the water over herself, her body rapidly absorbing the much needed liquid. She looks at you and in a strange voice asks 'Why?' |

The simple question from this being makes you smile. 'You were hurting. Something terrible has happened here, I can see that. You were lashing out in pain. As I caught you on my shield, I could see you were dangerously dry for a Dryad.' She pauses as she takes more water in. 'You have had dealings with my kind before?' she asks. |
'Aye, several times. Sometimes as a friend, other times as foe, though never by choice. I thought it worth trying to see if I could reason with you.' The Dryad turns her sightless face your way. 'For that I thank you,' she says, her voice growing in warning, 'But I believe my War Witch sisters are beyond reason!' You turn around, scooping up your weapon. 3 score Dryads, green energy blazing from their hands and where eyes would be are advancing on you. The Dryad says 'My Sisters are lost to me! I cannot feel them in the Weave. You...you have to destroy them!' |

Required Item: None
Required Kills: 60 x Pellranor Dryad Warwitch
|
With a heavy heart, you look to the Dryad. She shakes her head sadly. 'They are not my sisters any longer. Their minds destroyed by what has happened here. I cannot feel them in the Weave. Please, end their torment.' |
You charge into the attacking Warwitch Dryads and find the for all their feral strength and power, the eroded condition of their minds has made them less than able combatants. In short order, there is a single Warwitch left. You prepare to strike the killing blow when the Dryad stops you. You look askance at her. She says softly 'I can feel her on the weave. So very faint but I think she's warning us.' Before you can stop her, the Dryad merges with the Warwitch and you can feel some kind of communion between them. The Dryad detaches again and the Warwitch crumbles. The Dryad turns to you. 'She told me this is a poison of the Shroud! I have to investigate this.' You nod. 'I'll help. I've had plenty of dealings with the Shroud and the minions of the Shadow Lord.' She nods. 'Very well. Meet me at Bleak Grove.' |

You arrive at the Bleak Grove. It's well named. The devastation that has blighted the Pellranor forest seems to go on and on. The Dryad appears and greets you. You return her greetings with a hard look on your face. The destruction caused by the minions of the Shroud has been very close to complete. |
She shakes her head. 'There is still a degree of strength and resistance. The Weave is strong. It gets stronger in tha...' Her words are cut off as the arm she was pointing with sudden spins off! Staggered, the Dryad retreats a step or two towards you as you see what's attacking her. You interpose yourself between her and Razorfist Elemental that is swinging for her. You block the attack with your shield and promptly crush the head of the aggressor. |

Stage 6 Minimum Level: 2709
Location:Pellranor Forest (Bleak Grove) (11, 14)
Required Item: None
Required Kills: 45 x Pellranor Razorfist Elemental
|
You turn to the Dryad. 'You alright?' She has picked up her lopped off limb. 'The Razorfist Elementals are lost too? So much for my talk of strength!' You shake your head. 'You felt something?' She nods 'But it can wait! Look out!' You swing around, weapon and shield brandished. More Elementals are arriving. |
The fight is short as, like the Warwitches, the Elemental's minds appear to have been destroyed by whatever Shroud Contagion has been loosed. However, it is also bloody as they are aptly named! Razorfists indeed! You finish off the last of them and turn to help the Dryad. You need not worry. Her arm has regrown. 'Did you sense anything of the Weave in the Elementals?'
'No!' she snarls. 'There was nothing of them at all. That's how the first one snuck up on me.' You ask gently 'What was it you were saying before the attack?' She sighs, a surprisingly human reaction from a magical being with no lungs. 'The Weave. It is lost to Pellranor Forest. Maybe if we cut out the heart of whomever is channeling this power, it can return. If it is not dealt with however, it shall spread. I can feel it attacking the neighbouring Kethnoir Wood. Please, we must venture further afield and find the cause of this hurt and destruction! Meet me at Kethnoir Wood (Barrow)'
