You draw your weapon and follow the rhythmic sound. You steel yourself for another battle with another twisted horror of the Old Ones, but are surprised when you find the singer is a spirit staring out to the open sea below. Now that you're nearer you can make out the words of the bitter sweet shanty he sings.
When the spirit finishs, he turns and smiles as you. 'I normally don't get an audience. But then I can't remember what normal is any more. I know I was a pirate and a good one. But that's about all. All I now feel is the pull of the sea, but...' His eyes are then drawn back to the open horizon and the Spirit starts to sing another shanty with a haunting and lonely melody. |

He steps toward you, his eyes flash with a red light. He snatches the coin from you and growls, 'So where did you get this? Be quick now, a Quartermaster is not used to waiting.' He then blinks in utter consternation, 'I'm the Quartermaster!' He then struggles to follow a memory but it seems to slip though his fingers. He gazes at the coin in his spectral palm, 'I can't quite remember of which vessel. But this seems to have brought something back. Maybe if I get more pieces, it'll trigger more of my memories. This scrap of paper is the only thing I have left of my old life. Could you use it and bring me a Sailors Bootlocker? Maybe that will bring me more to my senses.'

The QuaterMaster stares out to sea humming to himself, 'You're back! Did you manage to bring me a Sailors Bootlocker?' |
The Spirit gazes at the wooden chest for a long time. 'I'm sorry, I should open it shouldn't I? Its just that I suddenly don't want to remember. There might be a reason that I forgot in the first place. But I'll just have to step up as you've brought this to me.'
The spirit slowly opens the wooden box and looks inside. He picks up the rough Rum Mug and grins at you. 'Ahhh, the taste of a good shot o' rum. It can't be beat.' With a sudden shout of glee he then snatches up the pair of black boots. 'If you're feet are warm then the rest will surely follow. That's a fact of sea life. Mark my words my friend, there's a reason why they say it's better to die with your boots on.' He then winks and slides on the boots. His features seem to sharpen as he stamps the floor in them.
He smiles manically at you, 'Right then, let's see what's left in here shall we.' He reaches into the chest without looking and then slowly draws out the weird black cutlass. The Quartermaster's face drains of all expression as he gazes upon the blade. 'Ooooh.' The jubilation of the spirit suddenly evaporates and he becomes a utterly still. He runs a finger down the dark edge and a drop of blood appears on it. The sight of the pirate spirit holding a black cutlass suddenly makes you very, very nervous. You take a slow step backwards and your hands drifts to you're weapon.
'I remember the feel of her. She ran across the waves like a guilty maiden. Merchant Captains would turn tail at the simple sight of the Dark Raven's silhouette. She was a terror of the high seas and we were her life's blood. But then the Captain found that ugly thing. I told him to cast it into the deep. Nothing that grotesque could do anything but bring bad luck. But he wouldn't listen, he wouldn't part with it. The fool. He started to steer a weird course, and we found strange black islands wreathed in evil smoke that weren't marked on any chart. I've no idea what he was dong, but it wasn't anything to do with good honest piracy... I remember... the...'
The Quartermaster then cuts the air with a furious swipe, his dim shape suddenly comes into focus. He bends down and snatches up the eight silver pieces from the Locker and bellows across the Coast Road, 'All hands on deck you worthless dogs. We got work to do and folk to murder.' The Quartermaster then turns towards you with the fluidity of a seasoned killer, 'You have this, I reckon we'll be seeing each other again in no time.' He hands you a battered roll of hide. You take it with surprise.
The Quartermaster laughs, 'Yes yes I know I said I only carried the Footlocker List. But I lied, it's on account that I'm a pirate, see?' He grins with a vicious look in his eye, 'I remember who I am and how I got here. There are some bad things that are going to happen to some bad people before I'm done. Keep up or you'll miss all the fun.' He winks the vanishes from sight.
You receive 1 x Dark Raven Sea Chart.

Cazinrill waits for you nervously, 'Where have you been? There was a loud shout and all the spirits suddenly started to walk to the coast. I take it you found something?' |
You tell the Paladin all about the Spirit you found and how you got him to remember who he was. You then show her the Sea Chart the Quartermaster gave you and she looks at them with interest. 'These are remarkably well drawn. I surprised that Pirates have such accurate charts. But then I suppose all successful individuals have to have some discipline in order to succeed at their endeavors. This shows the coast here, but this is marked wrongly. It shows a Pirate Town rather than a Fishing Village on the Stillwater (Sands).'
She then looks up at you suddenly, 'Unless the Chart is correct and it never was a fishing village at all. We should go to the Stillwater (Village) and see what we find. From this chart the Village is not too far. Meet me in the Stillwater (Sands).' |

I just want to send them a message that this world is not theirs to play with, whatever they may think. The vile little demons have a curious red eye in their pudgy little heads, I want you to rip 10 of the those eyes out of the Foetid Sand. Even if you'er made out of sand that's go to hurt right? The odd Fishermen eye you suspiciously as you pass through the Village, although they leave you well alone, too busy with their own lives to bother you probably. So you are surprised when an odd Villager dressed in red robes waves you over. |
The red robed figure points at you with his long scaly finger, 'You have not accepted the wisdoms of the True Gods. Bow before their majesty and embrace them. Be shaped by the Blood Weaver into your true form and have your mind renewed by the eternal truths of the Silent Holder. Then you shall be freed from the mold this world has forced you into. Then and only then, will you be released of the restrictions so unfairly imposed upon you.'
You stare at the odd fishman and say as calmly as you can, 'How can a face of a fish be an improvement?' The Priest laughs, 'Ah, that is an interesting point you make. You assume that the world as it is, was the way it was supposed to be. But this was not the intention of those who built creation. They were in fact cruelly imprisoned before they could complete their divine work. The face I now wear, is the face that they intended for me to wear, when the foundations of the world were laid.' You stare at the Priest for a long time, trying to absorb the utter stupidity of what he has just said.
The Village Priest sighs deeply, 'I am the perfection of my true form. Due to this I have been gifted with a lifespan that has been dictated by the True Gods. They will decide when I die. You cannot impose death upon me which they have not decreed before hand. To prove this you may try to murder me with your weapon.'
You blink in astonishment. You stammer, 'I... I'm sorry. What?' The Village Priest sighs again, 'Try to kill me. Now.' He then opens his arms wide and waits for your blow. You shrug, that would be one less idiot in the world. You ready your weapon and strike at the Village Priest will all your might. You cleave right through the Priest, he falls to the ground with a sickening thump. A group of Fishmen gather round you with open amusement. They point and laugh as the Priest coughs loudly and stands before you. Blinking in astonishment you see his wound close and with a sickening sound his bones snapping together. In a matter of moments he stands before you completely unharmed. He wipes the blood from his chest and looks at you pleasantly.
The surrounding crowd clap and pats you on the back shaking their heads at the expression on your face.
The Priest clears his throat, 'This is a demonstration of the power and kindness of the True Gods. As you can see, I cannot be killed be by anything that is not of the deep. I am immortal until the Old Ones decide I am to die.' With him standing before you it's hard to argue. You look away in disgust at your failure to disprove the power of the vile false gods.
You then see the barbed Harpoons the Stillwater Fisherman carry with them. Those look like they are of the deep. You look back at he Priest who gazes at you with an insane light of belief in his eye. 'Can I try again, if I fail I'll accept I'm wrong.' The Priest laughs and bows to you, 'Of course. It would be a great honor to bring an outsider to the endless truths of the Old Ones.'
Get an Barbed Harpoon the Stillwater Fishermen are carrying and use it on the Village Priest. |

The weird Village Priest bows as you approach him, 'Are you ready to again prove the everlasting bounty of the True Gods?' |
The Priest calls those who are passing by to witness your failure. When a large crowd has gathered the Village Priest closes his eyes and opens his arms wide again. 'You may strike with your weapon and finally prove the perfection of the Old Ones.' A murmur of approval ripples through crowd behind you.
In front of half the Village and the painful memory of your recent failure fresh in your memory, you find that your surprisingly nervous. This could back fire horribly and you will then be forced to accept the Old Ones as you promised. There is only one way to find out. The ring of villagers will not let you back out now.
You unstrap the Barbed Harpoon from your backpack. As you stand with it in your hand a murmur of shock from the encircling crowd almost makes you hesitate. But the sight of this complete idiot standing in front of you with his hands spread wide and his stupid fish face makes anger suddenly rise up within you. You throw the Barbed Harpoon with all your might. The Village Priest takes it square in the chest. You throw was so powerful he is lifted clear off his feet and pinned to the pale hut behind him. A horrific gargling sound bubbles up from his mouth as his lungs begin to fill with blood. He frantically tries to pull the Harpoon from his chest but the large barb of the Harpoon will not allow it. The Priests eyes the bulge in agony and with an tormented silent scream his head finally lolls and his arms drop pathetically to his side.
Silence....
You wait for the Priest's head to snap up and him laugh at the joke he has just played on you all...
Silence...
Scarlet blood then pours down the white wall and the crowd behind begins to wail. One reaches for the Priest and lifts his hand. It flops to his side when he lets it go.
Dead.
A voice of one of the crowd the mutters, 'He broke the taboo. None must use a Harpoon on anything but food.' Then another said , 'We all know that but how can this stranger? I was here, Bolwoth never mentioned not using a Harpoon. He just goaded the Stranger to use a weapon on him. Just like he did when he proved the power of the new Gods to us.'
You then turn from the Priest and say, 'I follow the Light. These beings are powerful, but that's all they are. Powerful beings. He was simply enchanted by their magic. With all magic there is a loop hole, his was that a weapon of the deep could kill him. It was a powerful magic but that was all it was. He was not immortal. I recommend you all send a messenger to the Church of Light. Hopefully they will be able to do something for you. Are there any more false priests wandering around?'
A small girl slips through the crowd and stands before you, 'The Harvester are wandering the Shallows just off the Sands. They are serving the false gods in some way. I'm not sure how.' You smile at the frightened little girl in front of you, 'Don't worry I'll go see what I can do.'
Return to Cazinrill and tell her about what just happened. |

You tell the Paladin about the idiotic Priest and how you proved that he was not blessed with immortality by the Old Ones. But you did find out that there are more zealots of the True Gods wandering the Stillwater (Shallows).
Cazinrill listens with amazement then takes a long breath. 'I don't understand it, but I don't feel that these are evil people. They seem to be just deceived, I'm sure that the Light will welcome them back. But we can't have these Harvesters loose in the area, go back to the Stillwater (Sands) and enter the Stillwater (Shallows). When you have killed 15 Harvester (Champions) return to me.' |

It's not surprising really. What could they do when he's performing miracles right in front of their eyes? I really don't know what's going to happen to them, I mean just look at them.'
You then stop her and say, 'What are you talking about? These people are just enchanted, do you think that Lindarsil isn't powerful enough to fix this?' Cazinrill frowns at you, 'It's not that simple. It all depends on how their actions effected their immortal spark.' Horrified you step away from her, 'These people are not demons, so it is that simple!' Cazinrill stares at you, opens her mouth. Then closes it, 'I suppose it is. Come on we need check out the Caves. The Villagers tell tales of a horrific undead monster that lurks within the shadows. Meet me in the Stillwater (Caves).' |

She jumps at the sound of your voice, 'Don't do that! The Villagers were correct about these Caves. As soon as I entered I was rushed by a horrific thing with a mouth for a stomach. I was able to dismiss it, but as I did I saw a tethering tendril arcing off west somewhere. This means that the spell of reanimation of these Undead has been rushed. Somewhere within these Caves you will find an Obelisk of Power. This is keeping the Gluttonous Wanderers docile. If we destroy that Obelisk the the tethers that are keeping them under control will be broken and they will run rampant. In short, they'll kill each other.'
'Take this scroll and make a Rune of Dismissal. The rune as to be tailored to each type of Undead so you will require some components from the Gluttonous Wanderers to make it. Sorry. When you have made the Rune search the Caves and find the Obelisk of power and use the Rune on it. Return to me when you're done.'

The Tome of Secrets we took from the Devotees of the Holder way back in the Greenvale Library, did point us to this desolate Isle. I'm still not sure why, I guess it's tied up with the Pirate Wreck somehow. We need to find out why. But judging from the weird undead, fishmen and twisted snake abominations we've met along the way, I'd say we are pretty much on track to hunting down the Shapers.'
She then points at a strange spirit that looks as if it is made of sea spray. 'The Shapers can't leave anything alone. Do not be fooled by that weird spirit. It is a vile concoction of the Shapers. They have combined the pain of the dead to form that tormented thing. We must put it out of it's misery. Take this Rite of Cleansing and build a Soul Totem.
