You walk into the clearing of the jungle, having done a quick scouting pass. You see Sarah and Jerrod have been setting up the camp. You join them and light the camp fire. Jerrod pushes you aside and dives for his bow and quiver. A huge claw slams into the dirt where you had been standing! You roll to your feet, drawing your weapon and see a horde of Gigantic Soktharg Mantis climbing from the surrounding trees with more advancing out of the jungle. Sarah appears beside you, gives you a nod and you both charge into the mantis swarm, Jerrod providing covering fire, aiming for the eyes. Sarah sees your strikes are lethal. 'Shouldn't we try to drive them off, like you did the bears?' she calls over. You parry a strike before taking the offending claw off. 'These are killers. They are magical creations bred for murder. They won't be driven back, so we have to destroy them!' Sarah sways away from a mandible attack, slicing the mantis' head from it's neck. 'I see what you mean!' With that instruction out of the way, the mantis' start to fall in earnest to the groups attacks. With the battle done, you clear up the bodies and rebuild the camp else where. 'Those creatures were not natural. I wonder where they may have come from? They could have been here for ages though.' You say. 'We'll have to push ahead.
